A FAMILY fishing trip to the Borders has ended in tragedy. The body of Joseph Richardson, 72, from Oxfordshire was recovered from the River Tweed at Boleside near Galashiels on Saturday.

The keen angler had continued fishing while his family went for lunch. Emergency services were alerted when he was spotted floating in the river. Paramedics gave emergency treatment on the river bank but without success.

A report will go to the procurator fiscal but police say there are no suspicious circumstances.
