Fun and games at Gala summer fayre

Organisers of the St Margaret’s Primary School summer fayre in Galashiels are keeping their fingers rossed for fair weather this Saturday.

A programme of fun-filled entertainment has been put together for the annual event both inside and outside the Livingstone Place school from 10am till noon.

In the playground there will be the bouncy castle, stocks, barbecue, mile of coins and a PoliceScotland speed patrol car, while on the playing field there will be penalty prize, throw a welly and a water slide(please bring a change of clothes!) The coffee morning inside the hall – £2 for adults and children free – will feature the usual stall favourites, including bottle tombola, guess the giant teddy bear’s birthday, cake and candy, popcorn and candy floss, guess the weight of the cake, face painting and a table top sale.

The raffle, which will be drawn at 11.30am, features some great prizes, including meals for two at the Kingsknowes Hotel and Harrow Inn, Tesco Lucky Box, voucher for any colour service/cut and blow dry with Hayley at Parrucchiere Hairdressers, cut and blow dry courtesy of Callum at Studio, £50 Highland Dress voucher from The Kilt Shop, Galashiels Through the Ages photo book donated by The Old Gala Club, Bon Marche clothing voucher, a delicious Forest Sausage from The Polish Shop and a voucher for Joni’s Dog Grooming Studio.

A spokesman for St Margaret’s Parent Council said: “This is our big fundraiser for the year and hopefully the weather will stay dry to allo all the entertainment to go ahead as planned. All proceeds will go towards funding treats for the pupils and the benefit of the school.”

The Parent Council wish to thank Advanced Signs for preparing the publicity banner which is currently on display on the fence of Our Lady and St Andrew RC Church in Galashiels and to ex-pupil (a long time ago!) Peter Croan for providing the bouncy castle.

Thanks also go to Limelight, who provide after school childcare at St Margaret’s, and Mini Mags Under Fives for their support at this Saturday’s fayre.
