December will see Berwick-upon-Tweed play host to the moving image once again as a festival of films and video builds on the success of last year's highly successful international film festival in the town.

This year's mini-fest will take place in the Maltings over three days – December 1-3 – and will include a packed programme of exciting and diverse films.

It is intended the main festival will run every second year with a weekend of film screenings in the alternate years.

Festival co-director Huw Davies said: "The second year of the film festival is another step in securing Berwick's growing reputation as a national stage for innovative and inclusive films and media arts programming. The fact that it has returned after last year's highly successful first outing is a credit to the dedication and support of the local community."

Sponsored by the Berwick Community Development Trust and Berwick Borough Council, the festival hopes to again win the support of the local community and attract regional and national guests to Berwick.

And to ensure the event runs smoothly, co-ordinator Genni Poole is looking for people willing to help with a whole range of work during the festival.

She said: "We will need help from people willing to be event stewards and venue custodians. We need to get people on board now so we can plan and coordinate teams for the different days of the festival."

And as a thank you, volunteers will gain free entry to the screenings they steward.

If you would like to help out either before or during the festival and be part of the drive to make the festival a recurring event, please call Genni on 07779 663860 or email her at: info@berwickfilm-artsfest.com
