Like all other festivals in the Borders, it’s cancelled this year, but here are some photos from its 2015 predecessor, taken by Stuart Cobley, to help make some small amends for its absence from the region’s summer events calendar.
Had it gone ahead, proceedings would have started with a rideout to Morebattle on Sunday, June 21, followed by another to Southdean on Saturday, June 27, one to Crailing and Nisbet on Wednesday, July 1, one to Redeswire this Saturday, July 4, the Queen’s ride to Hermitage Castle on Monday, July 6, and rideouts to Lanton and Ancrum the following two days.
The festival’s main day would have been next Friday, July 10.
Details of online events taking place to mark the absent festival can be found at www.jethartcallantsfestival.com
Jedburgh’s callant five years ago was electrician Grant Raeburn, 21 at the time, and he was supported by right-hand man Jack Fraser and left-hand man Garry Ramsay, with Allan Learmonth as herald.
