Two new positive cases in Hawick brings total to 15

The temporary mobile testing unit in Hawick has been extended following another two positive cases of Covid-19 in the town.

It brings the total associated with this particular outbreak in Hawick to 15 positive cases, none of which are causing clinical concern.

Test and protect staff are continuing to contact anyone who may be affected, with close contacts being advised to self-isolate and being given appropriate advice.

The Mobile Testing Unit, based in the Teviotdale Leisure Centre car park on Mansfield Road, will be operational from 3-5pm today and tomorrow, and between 10am and 5pm from Wednesday to Friday.

A spokesperson for NHS Borders said: “Although the risk of catching the virus in Hawick is low, please be extra vigilant.

“If you experience any of the Covid-19 symptoms – a fever, persistent cough or loss of taste or smell – you must self-isolate immediately and book a test for Covid-19.”

Mobile testing will be available in Galashiels at the Netherdale Car Park between 10am and 1pm tomorrow, Tuesday, September 1.
