Dates for Borders community testing for Covid-19 for those without symptoms

As around a third of people with Covid-19 do not show symptoms, community testing is being continued across the Borders in a bid to break chains of transmission and limit the spread of the virus.

Universal lateral flow device (LFD) Covid-19 testing is available for everyone in Scotland and home test kits are available to anyone who does not have Covid-19 symptoms and can be ordered for delivery to your home online or by calling 119.

Alternatively, home test kits can picked up from the local walk-through test site at Langlee Community Centre, in Marigold Drive, Galashiels, between 3.30pm and 8pm.

Also, the community testing programme continues to be delivered across the region through partnership working between NHS Borders, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Scottish Borders Council and Scottish Government.

Community testing is being offered at local fire stations (and the Volunteer Hall in Duns) in the following towns over the next few weeks.

Today (May 14): Kelso and Peebles. Tomorrow and Monday (May 15 and 17): Jedburgh and Selkirk. May 18 and 19: Hawick and Lauder. May 20 and 21: Coldstream and West Linton. May 22 and 24: Kelso. May 24 and 25: Innerleithen. May 25 and 26: Jedburgh. May 26 and 27: Eyemouth. May 27 and 28: Newcastleton. May 28 and 29: Duns.

Testing at these sites is available for anyone who lives, works or volunteers in the Borders and is well (not currently showing Covid-19 symptoms).

The most common symptoms of Covid-19 are a new: continuous cough; fever/high temperature (37.8°C or greater) and/or a loss of, or change in, sense of smell or taste (anosmia).

A new continuous cough is where you: have a new cough that’s lasted for an hour; have had three or more episodes of coughing in 24 hours or are coughing more than usual.
