Bus services in Borders being cut due to Covid-19 outbreak

More than 20 of the Berwick-based public transport operator’s services are being cut back and 16 are being stopped altogether from today, March 23.

A spokesperson for the firm said: “The Borders Buses team plays a vital role in safely and responsibly transporting key workers living in our communities.

“Safety is our number one priority, and we shall continue to closely monitor the coronavirus outbreak and take guidance from both the Scottish and UK governments.

“From Monday, March 23, we will temporarily reduce the level of services being operated.

“We will also be suspending a number of routes.”

The services being operated at a reduced level are the X62 from Galashiels to Edinburgh via Peebles, X95 between Edinburgh and Carlisle, 51 from Jedburgh to Edinburgh, 54 and 74 around Galashiels, 60 and 67 between Galashiels and Berwick, 69 from Galashiels to Melrose, 70 for Langlee, 73 linking Galashiels and Selkirk, 90A and 90B around Peebles, 235 between St Abbs and Berwick, 253 from Edinburgh to Berwick, 267 and 464 from Berwick to Wooler, 339 in Midlothian, B1 around Berwick, H1 and H2 around Hawick and 91S between Peebles and Biggar, replacing the 91 and 93.

Those being suspended are the 61, 62B, 68, 81,85, 87, 91/93, 313, 314, 396, 602, 710, B12, P32, X70 and Y01.

The B12 and Y01 will continue to run until tomorrow, March 24, however.

Train services between Tweedbank and Edinburgh are also being cut by ScotRail in response to the spread of coronavirus nationwide.
