Kian McHugh, 18, of Silverbuthall Road, appeared from custody at Jedburgh Sheriff Court yesterday afternoon when he pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching bail.

McHugh had only been in the dock the previous Monday when he denied two charges of threatening or abusive behaviour and breaching bail.

A trial date was fixed for June 24 and McHugh was allowed bail with special conditions not to contact three named people and not to enter Princes Street in Hawick.

He was also given a home curfew between 7pm and 7am.

McHugh shook his head, which led Sheriff Peter Paterson to tell him he should not be going out anyway due to the current lockdown restrictions.

However, three days later he was back in court and pleaded guilty to two breaches of his bail conditions.

This time, McHugh was refused bail and remanded in custody for the production of background reports.

Sentence was deferred until February 22.
