Information flows at flood meeting

More than 40 farmers attended the flood management information day at Crookston Farm, near Heriot last month.

Producers at the on-farm event learned about natural flood management techniques such as woodland planting, wetland creation and moorland management. The event was organised by SAC Consulting’s Derek Robeson with farmer Jim Sinclair and Tweed Forum’s Hugh Chalmers.

Attendees learned that Tweed tributaries are likely to be in the next round of priority catchments. And they heard about alternative watering projects aimed at demonstrating ways of providing drinking water to livestock from fenced-off watercourses.
