This hilarious play is based on that well known 1980s television programme set during World War 2.

It tells the story of Rene Artois, a café owner, who has been forced into hiding the famous painting of, The Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies, for the German colonel and the Italian captain who have decided to keep it for themselves and sell after the war.

Hitler also wants the painting, and sends Herr Flick of the Gestapo to the town to find it. Flick, in turn, would like to keep it and sell it in order to run away with Helga.

René is also forced to work with the Resistance, led by the fearsome Michelle and the hapless Le Clerc, who are “helped” by Crabtree, a British spy posing as a French policeman, who has been sent to France because he can speak French.

However, he does not speak it very well leading to much hilarity. René is also trying to keep his affairs with his waitresses, Yvette and Mimi, secret from his wife.

All in all a fantastic night out (the cast are still laughing at jokes after about four months!), featuring many ‘well kent faces’. Make sure you get your tickets (£10/£8) as soon as possible from Occasions, 018907 51468.
