Bite-sized treats at lunchtime

Eastgate Theatre's popular series of Bite-Sized Entertainment lunchtime events makes a welcome return in April.

From mini-plays to storytelling and fine music, the afternoon performances provide an opportunity for older audiences to enjoy high-quality entertainment, together with a light lunch and good company.

Held weekly on Wednesday lunchtimes throughout the month, the series of bite-sized performances begins on April 5 with an appearance by actor, compere and raconteur Scott Noble. Well-known locally, having appeared in a variety of productions from Othello to Trainspotting, Scott will present snippets from some of the many shows he has been involved in, interspersed with entertaining chat.

At this time of renewal and returning light, the following week (April 12) offers a chance to join acclaimed local storyteller and artist Mary Kenny for an afternoon of stories and song to lift the spirit and gladden the heart.

The final two Bite-Sized lunchtime sessions see the Gerard Dott Trio (April 19) play some fabulous easy listening tunes (on clarinet, double bass and piano), and fiddle maestro Nick Jenkins (April 26) entertain with his intricate, rousing folk music.
