Originally developed by the Treefest Partnership, the festival is easily accessible to visitors from both Edinburgh and Glasgow areas – and enjoys around 5,000 visitors from around Britain.

The Wood Market is open on Saturday and Sunday – great for Christmas shopping and indulging yourself.

If shopping is not your bag, Tweed Green is worth a visit to see representatives from the timber industry demonstrate their skills and display their wares.

You can take a look at some traditional wooden crafts and have a go yourself – and if that’s too much like hard work you can join 100 competitors in the eighth Scottish Conker Championships on the Saturday.

The games continue with a Pooh Stick Race between the Tweed and Priorsford Bridges. Decorate your stick with the ranger service and watch the River Tweed carry it along.

For the first time the Dogs Trust will be on the Green on Sunday, as part of their dog chipping scheme – you can have your dog chipped for free. And bring your dog along in a costume to see if it can win best dressed dog.

The event is now a partner of the Peebles Food Festival, so if you are tired out with conkers and chainsaws, you can visit the local food vendors who will also be on the Green.

Bowhill and Traquair are also putting on their popular Halloween and ghost events.Booking is recommended as these events are very popular.
