IT would not be January without a helping of Burns Bites Back spread around the Borders.

An Ideoms Theatre Company spokesman said: “Ideoms bring you their whimsical but authentic take on the works of Robert Burns.

“Burns Bites Back is an evening of fun with a costumed show followed by a Burns supper – full of songs and poems, but no speeches.”

The supper is hosted by John Nichol, Hilary Bell, Ross Milligan and Jenni Borthwick, with Lucy Cowan joining in for a costume-less performance of Not Another Burns Supper at The Waterwheel in Selkirk on January 21.

Their first performance is tomorrow in Towermill Theatre, Hawick. Other dates are: January 15, The Woll, Ashkirk; January 21, The Waterwheel, Selkirk; January 22, Eastgate Theatre, Peebles; January 23, Wynd Theatre, Melrose; January 28, Smailholm Village Hall; January 29, Bowhill Theatre, Selkirk; January 30, Maltings Theatre, Berwick-upon-Tweed; February 4, Buccleuch Centre, Langholm; February 6, County Hotel, Selkirk.
