The Trio Isimsiz come to Kelso Old Parish Church fresh from Vienna where they have just won second prize in the very prestigious Joseph Haydn International Chamber Music competition.

Isimsiz (meaning ‘no name’ in Turkish) will be playing two of the greatest works of the piano trio repertoire, Beethoven’s Ghost Trio and the Tchaikovsky’s largescale piano trio, together with an exciting, highly charged piece by Wolfgang Rihm, whose music has not been played in Kelso before.

The trio were formed at the Guildhall School of Music in 2009.

Michael Petrov, Bulgarian born cellist, trained at the Yehudi Menuhin School. He represented the UK in the European Concert Halls Organisation Rising Star series during the 2014/15 season.

He has also played as soloist with a number of major British orchestras such as the Philharmonia and the Royal Philharmonic.

The pianist, Erdem Misirlioglu, was a concerto finalist in the 2008 BBC Young Musician competition, and Pablo Hernan Benedi the Spanish-born violinist is a member of the Chiaroscuro Quartet, led by Alina Ibragimova, who gave such a stunning solo concert in October.
