The much-exalted trio that is Red Sky July make a visit to Hawick on Friday, November 21.
The venue is not a theatre, but the compact and bijou surroundings of the rapidly-popular music room, The Border Club in North Bridge Street.
The intimate setting will highlight the wonderful music and harmonies of this band which is rapidly rising in popularity throughout the land.
Red Sky July are husband and wife duo Ally Mcerlaine (guitarist in 15 million-selling band Texas) and Shelly Poole (previously one half of million-selling duo Alisha’s Attic), along with former model Charity Hair (The Alice Band and latterly The Ailerons, with Blur’s Dave Rowntree).
Upon release of their self-titled debut album and throughout 2012, Red Sky July garnered much critical acclaim and media support. 2013 marked a return to the live scene for the band, where as well as performing their own headline, UK-wide tour (including an appearance at T in the Park), Red Sky July also enjoyed guest slots on tour with the likes of Deacon Blue, James Walsh (Starsailor) and Jools Holland, including his sold-out performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Their achievements so far were recognised at the Scottish Music Awards, where Red Sky July performed live and were presented with a prestigious Tartan Clef award by Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy.
Red Sky July returned to the studio to record their highly-anticipated follow-up album, Shadowbirds, which was released in September 2014, accompanied, once again, by outstanding reviews, airplay and appearances on the likes of Radio 2, Radio London, Radio Scotland, Bauer Radio etc. The album made an immediate impact, entering the official UK charts country album chart at number three.
With guest appearances under their belt already this year with influential Nashville singer/songwriter Beth Nielsen Chapman and the legendary Steve Earle, Red Sky July have now hit the road for their own headlining tour, as well as appearing as special guests of both multi-award winning Sheryl Crow (five shows) and the renowned 10cc (11 dates) on their respective UK tours.
Tickets, £10, are available from Brydon’s Bakers, Hawick, and online from www.borderevents.com.
