Eclectic mix enjoyed by Clef Club

Have your say

GalaSHIELs Clef Club reported an interesting and varied programme for their February meeting.

Linda Gray started by playing two piano items: Tchaikovsky’s Dance Reverie and War Song, by Phamie Gray. She was followed by George Wilson who recited Tam o’ Shanter, and then launched into songs from the shows, accompanied by Sue Wilson: Make Believe (Hammerstein/Kern), My Cup Runneth Over (Schmidt), On a Clear Day (Lerner/Lane), and If Ever I would Leave You (Lerner/Loewe).

Next came a masterful performance of JS Bach’s ‘Partita’ for solo flute by John Harris.

Sue Wilson then presented three piano solos, and the programme finished with ‘palm court’ music from Robert Fraser (violin) and Miriam Scarlett (piano) comprising Schubert’s Moment Musical, A Gounod Serenade, and John Ireland’s Bagatelle.

The club welcomes anyone wishing to perform music in pleasant company. Visit or call the secretary on 01896 752375.
