Tweedbank Fair kicked off this week with Tuesday night’s investiture of Tweedbank Lad and Lass, Reece Simons and Katelynn Pringle, writes Alex Haylock.

Galashiels Braw Lad Daniel Whitehead and Braw Lass Kirsty Black met the youngsters to exchange colours in the community centre. The festivities continued last night when organisers were hoping for a good turnout to the fancy dress competition at Tweedbank Primary School. Other events lined up include Mick Magic, a children’s entertainer, who will perform at the Community Centre tonight from 6-7.30pm.

The magic continues with an adults-only table magic show from entertainer Peter Pepper on Friday evening, which begins at 7.30pm.

The festivites reach a crescendo on Saturday with the Fruit and Flower Grand Parade at 12.45pm, when Reece and Katelynn and their attendants will follow Melrose and District Pipe and Drums. A fete and fun day will then take place at Tweedbank School.
