Rebus reincarnated at Melrose

POPULAR author Ian Rankin revealed at Melrose’s Borders Book Festival that his two most famous characters – Detective Inspector John Rebus and internal affairs cop Malcolm Fox – will go head-to-head in his next book.

It’s a mouth-watering scenario for fans of the Edinburgh-based writer, who chatted to TheSouthern’s Kevin Janiak just before reading some manuscript pages from the as yet unpublished novel Standing on Another Man’s Grave to his avid fans in the gardens of Harmony House.

In the interview, which you can watch by clicking on the video above, Rankin also spoke of his earlier Rebus work, how he felt about television adaptations of his work, his foray into punk rock and having tea with J.K. Rowling.
