THE Borders has won one of 20 paid interns to work in the region’s museum service.
The successful trainee will learn and contribute across a wide range of museum and gallery work in the Lottery-funded post.
SBC’s senior curator Fiona Colton said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to support a recent graduate towards gaining valuable experience of museum work.”
Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) created the interns programme with Heritage Lottery funding.
A spokesman said: “The intern will assist with collections audits and documentation projects, the installation of local history and visual art exhibitions, research for Flodden 500 anniversary exhibition projects and help to prepare a marine-themed diorama for Year of Nature 2013 display. The museum and gallery trainee will also help deliver children’s activities linked to learning projects and community events, and assist with touring exhibitions.”
