Galashiels Studio Club to stage art exhibition

Galashiels Studio Club are holding a grand opening of their annual art exhibition on Saturday June 13 at Old Gala House.

The club was started in 1948 for local artists, and meetings took place at Old Gala House in Galashiels.

Among the original Studio Club artists were Anne Redpath, John Martin, and Lynne Rodgie. Current membership includes many local amateur and professional artists, but the club is open to artists and craft makers and provides a informative, nurturing and inspirational environment for those interested in art and crafts in the Scottish Borders.

The club meets from October through to March, with workshops and talks by professional artists on Thursday evenings at Old Gala House, as well as craft sessions at St Paul’s Hall in Galashiels on some Thursday afternoons. New members are always welcome.

After the official opening by William Windram of Pike & Chapman (who is also Provost of Melrose), Galashiels Studio Club Annual Art Exhibition is open from 12.30pm on June 13 until 4pm on July 11 2015 (closed June 19 and 27) from 10am-4pm each day, Sundays 1pm-4pm, in the Christopher Boyd Gallery at Old Gala House, Scott Crescent, Galashiels. Entry is free.

This is a great opportunity to buy original art/crafts/cards at reasonable prices! Refreshments will be provided.
