The Eastgate Theatre in Peebles is showing A Streetcar Named Desire, which launches the National Theatre’s live screening season.
Direct from London’s Young Vic Theatre, this new interpretation of Tennessee Williams’ timeless masterpiece stars Gillian Anderson as a shatteringly powerful and persuasive Blanche Dubois locked into an electrically risky relationship with Ben Foster’s hirsute, sweaty, exhibitionist Stanley Kowalski. Stella is played by Vanessa Kirby, who played Joanna in Richard Curtis’ RomCom, About Time.
Directed by Benedict Andrews, the production transports the Kowalskis from New Orleans to a clinical, cramped, white modern apartment with nowhere to hide.
The production is live screened at the Eastgate on Tuesday, September 16 at 7pm. Tickets are priced £14 (£10 schoolchildren).
