Opera from Scotland, or a piece of Puccini – the choice is yours

Peebles Proms. La bohme

Peebles Proms. La bohme

Peebles’ Eastgate Theatre is showing an evening of opera highlights on Saturday, January 19, at 7.30pm.

“Inspired by 50 years of Scottish Opera, this evening features musical highlights from their favourite productions over the years, including excerpts, stories and anecdotes from their own history,” writes an Eastgate spokesperson.

“This promises to be a performance full of energy, versatility and plenty of humour, with something for everyone from seasoned fans to first-time opera-goers.” Tickets cost £11 (under-26s £5).

Earlier that week, on Tuesday, January 15, La Boheme is being streamed live from London’s Covent Garden into the Eastgate Theatre.

“Puccini’s wintery tale of the joy and heartbreak of young love is an unforgettable treat featuring glorious melodies,” continues the spokesperson.

“Teeming with period detail, John Copley’s definitive production of this much-loved opera is traditional opera at its best.”

Tickets cost £17. Contact 01721 725777, or go to www.eastgatearts.com
