Julian Goodacre enjoys making and repairing both Scottish and English pipes from his Peebles workshop, but is incredibly excited about his latest venture.

He’s in the middle of making a set of small pipes for Callum Armstrong – the young piper in the film Warhorse.

He told us: “For hundreds of years people have been searching for higher notes and higher octaves and Callum has managed to find a way of playing them.

“We have developed a chanter by opening up new holes and blocking others, and there are a lot of people all around the world who can’t believe what they hear when they hear what Callum is doing.”
