Borders Tri Club held its annual Junior Aquathon at Selkirk on Sunday, open to competitors from 8 to 16 years. It consisted of a swim, then a run , distances dependent on age. The event attracted 38 athletes, both locally and further afield. Most of the events were completed before the downpour, besides, the rain only affected spectators as the competitors were already wet after their swim. Competition was fierce in all age categories , with some impressive swim and run times. Winners: Eight-year-old boys, Myles McGlaughlin (Innerleithen); girls, Lucy D'Agrosa (Clovenfords). Nine-10-year-old boys, Sam Glass ( West Barns); girls, Emily Veitch (Kelso); 11-12-year-old boys, Jake Shepherd ( Galashiels); girls, Clare Wallace (Newton Mearns); 13-14-yearold boys, Fraser Veitch (Kelso); girls, Erin Wallace (Newton Mearns). Organisers thanked Durty Events for the use of their electronic timing and Sainsbury's for sponsorship of the event. The next junior event is the Bowhill Duathlon on August 31. Entry forms avai
