Wasps add sting to sevens circuit

MELROSE WIN GALA WANDS 7s on Saturday.

After five rounds of the Borders Semi-junior Sevens series, things are really starting to heat up.

Jed Thistle’s great run came to a halt at Netherdale last weekend when they were defeated by Melrose Wasps in the first of the semi-finals at Gala Wanderers sevens.

The second semi saw the hosts going down to Selkirk Youth Club, who were delighted to make their first final appearance of the series.

But it was Melrose who recorded their first tournament win on the 2015 circuit which means that with three tournaments to go, although Jed are in front, the Riverside lads can be easily caught by Melrose and Hawick Wanderers, with Gala Wanderers and Selkirk Youth Club having an outside chance.
