HAWICK Wanderers lifted the cup at the Langholm Colts Sevens last Saturday, with a 39-5 win over Berwick Colts in the final, writes John Smith.

The Teries’ tries came from Lewis Anderson (2), Sam Bandeen (2), Jock Wilson (2) and Scott Anderson, with two conversions from Jack McComb.

Callum O’Rouke had to pull out of the Berwick side in the final and his replacement, Jake Sloan from Tynedale, got their only try.

The sevens were played in a pool system and in the semi-finals, Hawick Wanderers beat Gala Wanderers 12-10, with a successful conversion proving decisive, and Berwick got the better of Hawick PSA by 27-7.

The Jim Telford Memorial Cup was presented by his daughter Mhairi Jammeh-Telford to Wanderers captain Fergus Hislop.
