Following on from their narrow opening win against Hawick Wanderers, Jed Thistle have been taking the Scottish Borders Semi-Junior League by storm.
Thistle played Kelso Quins in a midweek game at Riverside and wins for both in the opening fixtures meant confidence was high.
The early stages saw the Quins with the upper hand in the set piece with the Thistle backs looking more lively and after early nerves had settled it was Thistle who opened the scoring with a converted try followed by a penalty from Kelso.
The half continued with Thistle enjoying good possession but poor accuracy and mistakes meant no more scores until the end of the half when Thistle scored two converted tries to go in 21-3 at halftime.
The second half saw Thistle score early before Kelso crossed for a try. With the Thistle forwards getting the upper hand further tries gave them a 52-8 victory.
Thistle try scorers: Rory Marshall, Oliver Ryan, Calum Young, Craig Cowan, Robbie Douglas, Robbie Yourston (2). Yourston added 7 conversions & 1 penalty.
Thistle’s 3rd game in a week saw them take on Peebles Colts on Saturday.
Good conditions meant the game was played at a fast pace with Thistle taking an early lead with a penalty.
With their backs once again looking dangerous it wasn’t long before Thistle added to the score with four tries to lead 27-0 at the break.
The second half saw Peebles come back into the game and, with Thistle feeling the effects of two tough ties, scored two unconverted tries before Thistle scored two more to finish 41-10 winners.
