Struggling Kelso make coaching changes

Former Jed-Forest captain Gary Holborn will take over the head coach position at Kelso RFC following the sacking of Jammy McFarlane last weekend.

Holborn, who has played for the Poynder Park outfit since leaving Melrose during the summer, will be assisted by another ex-Greenyards man, Andrew Skeen.

McFarlane’s exit last weekend came after the club’s defeat against GHA, leaving them at the lower end of the National League One table with only two wins from eight games. Forwards coach Gerry McGuiness resigned following McFarlane’s dismissal. Front row man Holborn will lead the team into this Saturday’s trip to Marr with Skeen as player/backs coach. Neil Hinnigan will continue as director of rugby.

Elsewhere in National One, Selkirk have been continuing their unbeaten run and this weekend travel the short distance to Riverside Park where they play a Jed-Forest side looking to get back to winning ways on home turf. Peebles are also at home to Watsonians.

In the top flight, Gala and Hawick entertain Ayr and Currie respectively, while Melrose travel to face Edinburgh Accies.
