VICTORY at both Langholm and Peebles’ events has shot Melrose 25 points clear on the 2014 Kings of the Sevens table with only four tournaments to go.
On Saturday Andrew Skeen and his men took their first Langholm title since 2002 after beating series challengers Edinburgh Accies 28-12 in the Minlntown Final.
And on Sunday the Greenyards outfit travelled to The Gytes where a 45-17 win over Hawick saw them take the honours for the fourth time this season.
After six events in the 10-event series Melrose are only 17 points short of the all-time record of 65 points in a season.
This coming weekend the circuit rolls on to Kelso (Saturday) and Earlston (Sunday) for another double dose of the abbreviated game.
Standings after six tournaments: 1, Melrose 48; 2, Gala 23; 3, Watsonians 23; 4, Edin Accies 21; 5, Hawick 21; 6, Selkirk 16; 7, Peebles 14; 8, Jed-Forest 10; 9, Kelso 6.
