Back in October Peebles travelled to Aberdeen and were well beaten on that occasion, with the hosts gaining a try bonus.

Last Saturday the tables were completely turned and Peebles got four league points plus a try bonus to lift them off the very bottom of the league.

Peebles piled on the pressure in the opening minutes and went ahead when Corey Togia picked up from a ruck on the Aberdeen 22 to beat the visitors defence before passing to Greg Raeburn who stepped inside his man to touch down.

Some good kicking by visiting stand-off Ali Addy kept the host pegged back for a spell but it was not until the 25 minute that Aberdeen scored an equalising try through their No 6.

It was just on half time when Peebles’ Brandon Kent made a great break though the centre. The ball was passed through several pairs of hands before Richard Harrison finished off with Raeburn added the conversion. Half time: 12-5.

Peebles added to their points tally not long into the second period. Murdo Anderson picked up the loose ball shrugged of his opposite number and slipped a pass to Murray Brown who ran in to score under the posts. Raeburn again added the conversion.

Within three minutes Aberdeen had scored at the other end when Hamilton Burr scrambled over the line following a series of rucks. Alex Hagart added the conversion.

For the next 10 minutes Aberdeen threw everything into attack but the Peebles defence held well and when the bonus try came it was a good one with Callum Anderson weaving his way through the visiting defence to score the try which Raeburn converted.

Aberdeen never gave up but two telling tackles by full back Stevie Hamilton brought the game to a close.
