MELROSE RFC has become the first Scottish Premier One club to be awarded the accolade ‘Positive Coaching Scotland’ in association with The Bill McLaren Foundation.

SRU President Alan Lawson, accompanied by his wife Linda, presented the award to Melrose President Mike Bleasdale at the Greenyards on Sunday. Also attending was Bette McLaren, wife of the late legendary rugby commentator.

The visitors saw the youngsters (P3-P7) put through their paces on a sunny morning. The event ended with a video presentation at The Greenyards by Melrose Mini coaches demonstrating the work put in to achieve the award.

The main objectives are: Develop rugby players; Develop people through rugby; Build and sustain a strong and positive culture in our rugby environment.
