OVER at the Greenyards, Melrose will be dressed to impress next season following the announcement of a new kit partnership with Irish-based sportswear manufacturer O’Neills.

The four-year agreement will enable the club to supply a wide range of high quality, bespoke sports and leisure wear to their playing squad and supporters.

As kit partners for last year’s English champions Harlequins, O’Neills are expanding into Scotland. During the tendering process, senior players and coaches had considerable input with regards to the new look for the coming seasons.

And, with sevens already a recognised Commonwealth sport and about to become part of the Olympics in 2016, an 1883 range of merchandise is to be launched soon, further cementing the name of Melrose in the sporting history books, reflecting that the abbreviated game was invented in the town and is the fastest growing team sport in the world.

Melrose RFC president John Reed said: “I firmly believe that the combination of back-to-back Scottish champions Melrose and O’Neills will be of mutual benefit and we look forward to working with our new official kit suppliers for the next four years.”
