MELROSE RFC have galloped in to sponsor Kelso Races.

Alongside their sponsor Edinburgh Audi, the Greenyards club will support the Novice Hurdle Race at the course’s December 4 meeting, as well as providing a trophy for the best turned out horse.

Melrose president John Reed said: “This is a new venture for Melrose, but we see it as a way to improve and augment the experiences available to club members and reinforce our partnership with Edinburgh Audi.

“The race day is one of four where members of Melrose RFC will be able to gain entry to Kelso Races for half price, and Kelso Races members will be able to come to four Melrose home games for half price.”

Richard Landale, managing director of Kelso Races, added: “We hope there will be mutual benefit for all organisations.

“I see it as a very positive move where sporting organisations and business come together to assist each other. It is our desire that this should become a sustainable relationship into the future.”

Edinburgh Audi has renewed its sponsorship of Melrose RFC for the coming season and will host a test drive at the Greenyards on September 11 between noon and 4pm.

Melrose members who pay their subscription before September 17 will be entered into a prize draw, with the winner getting a chance to drive an Audi TT along with luxury hotel accommodation for two.
