Me and my sport ‑ Profiling Borders ASP athletes

AGE: 15.

HOME TOWN: Jedburgh.

SPORT: Rugby Union.

POSITION/DISCIPLINE: Hooker.

CLUB/TEAM: Jed-Forest Under-16s; Jed Thistle RFC; Scotland Under-16s.

COACH: Kevin Barrie.

YOUR OWN BEST MOMENT IN SPORT SO FAR: Representing Scotland Under-16s against France at the Wellington Rugby Festival.

AIMS FOR THE NEXT 12 MONTHS: Perform well at national trials and get back into the Scotland Under-16s squad.

WHO IN SPORT MOST INSPIRES YOU AND WHY: Thierry Dusautoir (French international flanker). Even though he doesn’t play in the same position as me he still inspires me because of the leadership he shows on the field as captain, and some of the tackles he puts in are amazing.

FAVOURITE TV SPORTING MOMENT OF ALL TIME: When Hearts beat Hibs 5-1 in the Scottish Cup Final.

BEST THING ABOUT YOUR SPORT: Winning.

... BUT DISLIKE: Being sore the next day!

VENUE AT WHICH YOU MOST ASPIRE TO COMPETE: Millennium Stadium, Cardiff. The size and atmosphere look and sound unreal.

IF NOT IN THIS SPORT, WOULD LIKE TO COMPETE IN: Rugby league because it’s the closest thing to rugby union and it’s a lot quicker so I’d like to try it.

CURRENT MOST PLAYED SONG OR TRACK ON YOUR I-POD OR MP3: The Motto – Drake.

... BUT TURN OFF/LEAVE THE ROOM TO: Gangnam Style – Psy. I find it just annoying now.

COMPETITION SUPERSTITION OR ODD ROUTINE: When I play at Riverside I touch the Jed-Forest badge on the door before I run onto the pitch and I always play with my socks down.

WHEN NOT COMPETING OR TRAINING I LIKE TO: Play Xbox, relax and go out with my friends.

MY FANTASY OFF-SEASON HOLIDAY WOULD BE: Anywhere that is warmer than Scotland.
