Hawick Linden 19
A THOROUGHLY engrossing friendly at the Volunteer Park resulted in a excellent performance and win for the home side.
This was by no means a typically error-strewn pre-season affair, with both sides playing some entertaining rugby.
The Royal Blues took the lead when Ryan Hamilton, Craig Russell and Stuart Renwick sent Graham Colville over.
After a period of pressure, Annan finally managed to suck in the Linden defence and go over in the corner just before half-time for the equalising try.
Linden started the second half much better and looked dangerous with great interplay opening up the Annan defence, before a tap penalty saw some surges at the line which ended in the impressive Sean Fairbairn going over, Russell converting.
Hawick sealed the win when neat work at the front of the line-out between Fairbairn and Bradley Mercer led to Blair Irving taking a short ball and bursting through tackles to score. Russell converted from wide out.
