NATIONAL DIVISION ONE
LANGHOLM travelled to face tableprops Livingston and came up against determined opposition, writes John Smith.
And although the Milntown men left with a victory, the bad news is that vice-captain Steven Nicol sustained ligament damage to his ankle while skipper Niall Cubbon suffered a suspected broken nose.
Langholm started strongly and fly half Keith Davidson dropped a goal with two minutes played.
The visitors bombarded the Livingston 22 with high kicks and full back Colin Jardine almost scored, before a long pass by Davidson sent winger Sean Potts in for a try at the corner, but Cubbon missed the conversion. The home team hit back with an unconverted touchdown from a pick and drive.
Livingston got on level terms with a penalty goal, but Mark Young, the Langholm scrumhalf, fed Davidson on the blindside for an unconverted try and it was 8-13 at half-time.
In a rather scrappy second period, Livingston added a penalty, but Cubbon slotted a brace for the visitors to take the win.
