THE Langholm Girls’ under-15 team made the long journey to Tillycoultry to play an Alva Academy/Alloa High School side, in defence of their Brewin Dolpnin title.

The side was somewhat changed from last season as four regulars – Emily Beattie, Shonagh Murray, Rachel Young and Lisa Thomson – have all moved up to under-18 level and several youngsters have come into the squad.

Right from the kick-off, however, the result of this game was never in doubt as wave after wave of strong running and well-constructed attacks from the visitors led to a convincing 14-try victory, with nine conversions adding to the scoreline.

Try scorers: Rachel Law (3), Lauren Meager (3), Chloe Horsburgh (3), Heather Reid (2), Nicole Beattie, Charlotte Hope and Isobel Reid. Megan Paisley converted eight with Law adding one conversion to her tries. Afterwards, the girls mixed it up and played another 30-minute period.
