It’s a busy weekend for local rugby clubs

Due to the recent deluge of postponed matches, several Borders rugby clubs have had their fixtures changed this weekend as the SRU attempts to ease the backlog.

Jed-Forest will now play their Scottish Cup second round match against Preston Lodge tomorrow night (Friday), with a 7.45 kick-off.

Also on Friday night, Peebles host Hawick in a Border League fixture at 7.30pm.

Melrose will host Currie in the Premiership on Saturday, kicking off at noon.

Selkirk, who had been due to meet Melrose in a rescheduled Premiership fixture on Saturday, now instead face Musselburgh in the second round of the Scottish Cup at Philiphaugh, with a 1pm kick-off.

Duns take on Langholm in the Border Shield at 2pm on Saturday, with the winner being rewarded with a home draw for the regional final.

Meanwhile, Melrose boss John Dalziel will be a busy man this weekend as he is also in charge of Scotland Under-20s who face their English counterparts at Broadwood tomorrow evening (8pm kick-off) as a precursor to Scotland’s Calcutta Cup match against the Auld Enemy on Saturday, kicking off at 4.50pm.
