Hawick High School will carry Border hopes of success at national level in the Brewin Dolphin Scottish U16 Plate after winning the regional final against Earlston High School.

The Hawick youngsters will join the seven other regional Plate winners in the national quarter-final draw.

In a hugely competitive and quality match, played on the 3G pitch at Netherdale, Hawick High School used their more physical forwards to outscore their opponents by two tries to one with touch downs from props Ruaridh McLeod and Jack Scott and one conversion from Liam Smith. McLeod was first to get points on the board but Earlston were level at half-time after full-back Gary McWilliams scored a gem of a try. Early in the second half the Berwickshire outfit took the lead with a penalty from stand-off Adam Hall only for Hawick to hit back with a close range try from their powerful back row, Jack Scott, converted by Smith.
