Top international teams will take part in the Aberdeen Asset Management Melrose Sevens on April 11, including South African side North West University, Germany, Glasgow Warriors and Wasps.
They’ll join the usual Scottish clubs in the mix.
Sevens convener Ian Cooper says he is delighted with the calibre of the sides his committee has been able to attract to this year’s tournament.
He told The Southern: “The 2015 tournament looks to be a feast of sevens rugby.
“The success of last summer’s Commonwealth Games tournament has already produced an unprecedented demand for tickets and I believe the line-up of sides will provide another outstanding tournament”.
There’s £3,000 on offer for the winners and £1,500 for the runners-up.
The Davidson Chalmers Vets Tournament will again open the Melrose Sevens weekend.
The club host its popular junior coaching clinic, now in its 32nd year, and there will be a demonstration of ladies’ rugby between the semi-finals and final.
