WITH Mansfield Park unplayable due to the wet weather this traditional Skelly Cup/Border League match was taken to the Volunteer Park on Saturday.
The Greens retained the cup and claimed the points with a comfortable win over their local rivals although it was the visitors who opened the scoring with former Hawick Linden winger Steven Bouglas scoring a try, converted by Chris Laidlaw.
Hawick responded quickly with Nick Mactaggart and Lindsey Gibson each crossing the whitewash, with Neil Renwick converting both tries. Laidlaw and Renwick exchanged penalty goals to give the Greens a 17-10 half-time lead.
Rory Scott was next to score for the home side after a good passage of play by the forwards. Renwick converted and added a try himself in the closing 10 minutes.
Jed had the last say when replacement Chris Gillon scored in the corner for Laidlaw to convert.
