JED consolidated their top- of-the-table position with a hard-fought bonus point victory played out in dismal conditions in Edinburgh on Saturday.

Donald Grieve, Monty Mitchell, Chris Laidlaw, Graham Slorance and Robert Hogg all touched down for the Riverside outfit, with Laidlaw notching a first-half penalty and two conversions in difficult kicking conditions.

Both sides struggled during the opening half with the 8-0 scoreline, in Jed’s favour, at the midway stage reflecting that.

Jed president Billy Grieve commented: “We stuck to our game plan, but it was still very close at half-time.”

Indeed, the scoreline remained in the balance until the closing quarter when three tries put the visiting side out of reach.

“We worked hard, worked for each other and the points came in the end. We made a good day into a great day,” added Grieve.
