With Glasgow Warriors coach Gregor Townsend watching from the stand, Currie swept to a comfortable victory at Netherdale to add to his former club’s woes.
Currie scored five tries and Joe Reynolds kicked 20 points.
Reynolds kicked an early penalty and added a second as Currie dominated. Gala were given a lifeline when Craig Dods pulled three points back with a penalty.
Reynolds made it 9-3 before Cameron Gray broke the try deadlock with a score in 34 minutes and Reynolds converted.
Gala hit back immediately, and from Ruairi Howarth’s break, Callum Rowlandson went over under the posts and Dods converted.
Weak tackling allowed Harry Elms to break through for a try and again Reynolds converted.
After the break, Reynolds kicked another penalty. It was one-way traffic as Gala struggled.
However, from a scrum close to the Currie line, Josh Irvine sent Opeta Palepoi over with 25 minutes left to play.
Elms raced through for his second try, Reynolds converting, and Fidias Efthymious added the bonus point before Ross Weston notched a fifth try and Reynolds converted.
