World Cup rugby takes precedence this weekend as the world’s top international teams play their final group stage matches.

The buzz on Friday night however will be centred on Mansfield Park as Nikki Walkers Hawick side face local rivals Gala in a Booker Border League clash (7.30pm).

Both sides have played and won one game apiece in the competition so far and will be looking to match leaders Melrose who have two wins on their books.

On Saturday (12.30pm) Kelso play host to Peebles in a National League fixture re-scheduled from 13th February due to Kelso’s traditional weekend tour fixture.

Elsewhere The draw for Round 2 of the BT Cup has taken place with Hawick getting an away tie against Boroughmuir, the team which comfortably beat the Greens in the final earlier this year.

Gala and Selkirk are at home against Glasgow Hawks and Musselburgh respectively, while Jed-Forest will travel to Preston Lodge. Melrose, Ayr, Currie and Heriot’s will join the competition at the Quarter Final stage by being placed in the top four of the Premiership last season. The ties will take place on January 29.
