Easy for 10-try Linden after a dodgey start

Lismore 18

Hawick Linden 62

RBS EAST LEAGUE 2

LINDEN proved too good for their opponents, running in 10 tries in the process.

But the Teries got off to a sticky start when Lismore went ahead via a penalty in front of the posts. However, it was the last time they threatened Linden – until they found themselves 45 points down and Hawick brought on
subs.

Greg Thomson raced in to score for a try converted by S. Renwick, then S. Goodfellow touched down for Renwick to add the extras. Craig Mitchell was next to make the Hawick try-scoring
sheet.

Renwick danced over the line to score and convert, followed by a brilliant Gary Wardle solo effort for another five points.

A yellow card picked up just before the break saw a 14-man Lismore face Hawick at the
start of the second period,
A sloppy kick into Linden’s 22
by the Lismore stand-off
was picked up by full back
Nathan Murray who raced down the touch line and past a bedraggled defence to score between posts. Renwick converted.

Then Terry Skeet charged forward, passed out to S. Fairbairn who drove through the defence to score. Renwick added the conversion.

Changes to the Linden
team allowed the big
Lismore forwards to drive
forward and pick up a pushover try. But S. Goodfellow (try)
and Renwick (conversion)
replied before Lismore scored again.

S. Bouglas picked up loose ball to jink through the opposition defence and send in N. Murray to score.

A forward rumble earned Lismore more points, however, Linden had the last laugh when Conor Gracie touched down.
