Hawick scrum half Bruce Campbell was sent off for stamping as the visitors let slip an 18-12 lead at Old Anniesland.

Campbell was dismissed with 10 minutes remaining, with both coaches feeling the decision was harsh.

Ultimately, the winning score by Patrick Boyer was made while advantage was being played for Campbell’s foul at the back of a scrum, and leaves the newly-promoted Teries with just two losing bonus points to their name from two opening Premiership matches they could have won.

Hawick fell 12-0 behind after only seven minutes to tries from Tim Steven and Boyer.

Gregor Hunter admitted last week that he never envisaged playing for Hawick, but the Edinburgh professional from Stow could prove to be a pivotal figure in the absence of Rory Hutton. He banged over two penalties and his clever kick set up Scott McLeod to score in the corner.

Greg Anderson ran home from inside his own 22 for a breathtaking try to make it 18-12.

However, Hunter was forced from the field just before half-time, and Hawick struggled without the stand-off in the second half, as Adamson and then Boyer scored to secure a home win.
