Hawick Linden 58
Ross High 18
RBS EAST LEAGUE DIVISION TWO
After observing a minute’s silence for the passing away of former captain, president and life member Viv Sharp, Linden went on a try-scoring spree in an entertaining game at the Volunteer Park.
With both teams running the ball on at will, this proved a fitting testament to one of the most popular men to grace the Linden colours.
Barry Sutherland opened the scoring with a penalty before winger Keith Mabon scored.
Steven Bouglas outpaced three defenders to touch down at the posts and Stuart Renwick added a third try.
Ross High responded with a penalty and then a lovely try, but Linden’s Blaine Willison responded with five points of his own.
A late try for the visitors saw the score stand at 29-13 to Linden, but wing forward Greg Cunningham’s scintillating break through the middle of the Ross High defence set up Bouglas to touch down at posts and virtually seal the win.
Bouglas completed his hat-trick and went on to grab a fourth, while late efforts from Blair Irving and Conor Grace completed the scoring for Linden.
