Seven young Borders rugby players have been named in Sean Lineen’s Scotland squad for the forth coming World Rugby Under-20s Championship.
Lewis Carmichael, Neil Irvine-Hess, Ruaridh Knott (all Melrose); Gary Robertson (Gala) and Hawick’s Ross Graham have been named among the forwards while backs Tom Galbraith (Melrose) and Ruairi Howarth (Gala) have also been given the nod.
Lineen has selected a 28-man squad to travel to northern Italy for the tournament – formerly the IRB Junior World Championship – from Tuesday, June 2 to Saturday, June 20. The Scots face a tough challenge with New Zealand, Ireland and Argentina in their group.
Building towards the championship, the squad are meeting as a group every Wednesday for training sessions.
