Hawick RFC will host a pre-season friendly match between Edinburgh Rugby and Newcastle Falcons at Mansfield Park on Friday, August 29, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
Following last year’s well-attended encounter between the two sides, which Edinburgh won narrowly, this game is sure to be an attractive spectacle for fans from both sides of the border.
Ross Cameron, Hawick RFC president, said: “We are delighted to welcome Edinburgh and Newcastle back to Mansfield Park, giving local rugby fans another chance to watch professional rugby in thebBorders.”
Edinburgh Rugby managing director David Davies said: “We’re delighted to accept Hawick’s kind invitation to play Newcastle at Mansfield Park, and look forward to renewing our rivalry with the Falcons.’’
Falcons managing director Mick Hogan added: “Edinburgh will provide a stern test for the team a week before the Aviva Premiership season commences.’’
