The drama that is the BT Premiership continued on Saturday as Ayr pulled out all the stops at Millbrae to hoist themselves into second place.

The hosts got off to a flying start and put 27 points on the board before Melrose had a chance to respond. John Dalziel’s men did attempt a mini comeback at the end of the first half with tries from prop Nick Beavon, converted by Joe Helps, and young flanker Neil Irvine Hess. Graeme Dodds added a touch down in the second half but by this time Ayr had the game well and truly in the bag.
